Dissolved Ozone Monitoring with W1+465L

9/1/2024

Ozone is a powerful disinfectant used in water treatment to remove harmful viral, bacterial, and parasitic impurities. It also improves flocculation, removes taste and odor compounds, and oxidizes inorganic impurities like iron and manganese.

Measuring and monitoring ozone concentration during treatment is crucial to ensure water quality and balance energy costs and operational efficiency.

The Teledyne API W1+465L system is effective for municipal, wastewater, and aquaculture applications. It combines a 465L ozone monitor with a W1 transfer column to measure dissolved ozone using UV absorption technology. The system operates by gravity-feeding ozonated water through the transfer column, where ambient air mixes with the water, transferring ozone from the water to the air. This air stream, containing ozone gas, is then analyzed. The measured ozone concentration in the air directly correlates to the dissolved ozone in the water, based on Henry's Law. This setup is known for its accuracy and low maintenance.
